Static Shielding Bag (SSB)

The WATFREE bag is manufactured by depositing a thin metal coating, such as aluminum, onto a polyester film substrate for static electricity protection.
This metal layer protects the devices or components inside the bag from electrostatic fields. There are two types of metallized shielding bags on the market, depending on the location of the metal layer: ‘Metal In’ and ‘Metal Out’.  Metallized bags or embedded metal shielding bags are most commonly recommended for packaging static-sensitive components, as they tend to be superior in durability and cost compared to ‘Metal Out’ bags. Furthermore, ‘Metal Out’ shielding bags protect the devices inside by preventing static from entering, thus safeguarding them from electrostatic damage. Since the metal layer is closer to the outer surface, ‘Metal Out’ bags generally have lower ESD values than ‘Metal In’ bags. The SSB provided by WATFREE is of the ‘Metal In’ type, with the metal layer on the inside.

This metalized layer protects the devices or the components in the bag from electrostatic fields. According to the position of the metalized layer, there are two types of metalized shielding bags, “Metal-In” and “Metal-Out”, in the market. A metal-in
bag or a buried metal shielding bag is the most commonly used and recommended for packaging of static-sensitive components. It also tends to be superior to a metal-out bag in durability and cost. A metal-out shielding bag also protects the devices in the bag against static-induced damage. As the metal layer is closer to the outside surface, the metal-out
shielding bag has lower ESD reading than a metal-in bag. The SSB we offer is a metal-in type, which has the metalized layer inside.
